In Michigan, the pandemic resulted in dental office closures from March to June 2020, and difficulty accessing adequate personal protective equipment (PPE) caused a slow ramp up in late summer and early fall of 2020. Also, in India, there is no dental insurance.

Ultimately, the ADA recommendation expired on April 30th, the CDC developed interim guidance for dental offices, and states slowly began to lift their mandates, allowing dental practices to reopen. It is estimated that almost 8 million workers in the United States have lost their dental insurance coverage due to job loss.
