The National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (NHNES) reported the most recent statistics on the prevalence of adult periodontal disease in the United States from 2009-2014. Data were collected from over 10,000 U.S. adults over the age of 30. The mean age was 50.8 years, with a female: male ratio of 51:49% and a mean of 24 teeth present per subject.
