California’s Department of Consumer Affairs authorized a public health emergency waiver to allow licensed dentists to provide COVID-19 vaccinations on January 4. Dentists who wish to be part of vaccine administration must complete a 3-hour self-directed training course, which is offered free of charge. More than 450,000 doses of either the Pfizer or Moderna COVID-19 vaccine have been administered in the state, with another 1.9 million doses slated to arrive soon.
