An analysis by the Kaiser Family Foundation has found that at least 90,000 deaths due to COVID-19 since June could have been saved if these Americans had been vaccinated. Fifty percent of these deaths happened in September. The brief also noted that COVID-19 was the leading cause of death in September, followed only by heart disease. In the month of September, nearly 2,000 American deaths due to COVID-19 were recorded each day.

COVID-19 vaccine manufacturers Moderna and Johnson & Johnson (J&J) submitted data demonstrating the efficacy of their COVID-19 booster shots among those ages 18 and older to the United States Food and Drug Administration (FDA). An Oxford University study found that 37% of those who have recovered from COVID-19 illness still experience at least one side effect 3 months to 6 months later. The most commonly reported side effects were respiratory issues, malaise, pain, and anxiety; additional symptoms included headache, stomachache, and depression.
